When Paths Cross

“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.”

Lao Tzu

The last of the summer heat is in full effect, but the change in daylight is a reminder that fall is three blinks away. And Left’s path crossed with mine the morning after my last post.

That morning, I took a different way and, from a distance, I spotted a chicken on a branch and found Left in all her glory with those fresh feathers and bright eyes!

By my calculations, Left is about five months old so technically she still being fed by mom and dad (wherever they are). But that’s not stopping her from trying to provide for herself. This day (and a couple since) she’s exercised her prowess and dove into the forest just feet away from where I sat.

It was unknown if she’s caught anything. She’s too fast and by the time I turn around she’s out of sight.

Yep, I admit I’m slow. Especially with the camera. I’d love to get a shot of an owl -or really any bird- soaring but that’s not my strong suit. My skills demand a practically-still subject as I try to frame up the perfect shot with my clumsy hands.

Maybe one day? In the meantime, I am in training too.
